Team Manager – Children’s with Disabilities (Bury)

About the role
Team Managers are essential in supporting our journey in Bury. They develop skills, support learning, and shape services for children with disabilities. This role uses the Hertfordshire Family Safeguarding Model, motivational interviewing and a multi‑agency approach, working with Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Recovery Workers, Mental Health Practitioners, and Psychologists. The focus is on building trusted relationships with families to support children and young people to thrive.
The team led consists of an Assistant Team Manager, 6 Social Workers (including an EHCP Social Worker), and 4 Family Support Workers who conduct direct work and Short Break Reviews.
Responsibilities
* Lead the team and oversee all aspects of service delivery for children with disabilities.
* Manage children and young people subject to child in need, child protection, pre‑proceedings, private and public proceedings.
* Conduct capacity assessments and manage cases involving Deprivation of Liberty applications.
* Apply the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Children Act 1989 principles in practice.
* Promote and facilitate training, support and development in child‑centred practice.
* Engage with multi‑agency partners and use motivational interviewing to support families.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working with children with disabilities and with complex case management.
* Strong knowledge of complex case management, child protection planning, and related legislation.
* Experience with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Children Act 1989.
* Leadership experience in a team environment.
Working Hours
Normal hours are 37 hours per week based on the standard business working week.
