This is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of local residents through sport, leisure and physical activity. The role focuses on working with communities, partners and leisure providers to create opportunities that help people of all ages become more active. The successful candidate will play an important role in monitoring leisure and sport services delivered on behalf of the council. This includes working closely with contractors, reviewing performance data, supporting improvement planning and ensuring services meet the needs and expectations of residents. You will work with a wide range of partners, including community organisations, sports clubs, schools, health professionals and council colleagues across public health, parks, community engagement and social care. Together, you will help develop and promote programmes that encourage participation in sport, play and physical activity, particularly for groups facing barriers to being active. The role will also involve supporting volunteers, promoting community initiatives, helping develop events and campaigns, and identifying funding opportunities to support sustainable programmes. An important part of the position will be gathering and analysing data to understand the impact of programmes and demonstrate how they contribute to improving health outcomes. Experience of partnership working, community engagement, project delivery and monitoring performance would be valuable in this role.
