Optegra has an exciting new opportunity for a Staff Grade Doctor with experience in ophthalmology, particularly in managing glaucoma cases, to join our supportive team at Newcastle Eye Hospital. This is a part-time role, 2 days per week (20 hours), offering a chance to grow within a developing business and benefit from fully funded training and development programs.

The Role
We seek a motivated Staff Grade Doctor to support our NHS glaucoma services, providing clinical and surgical assistance with compassion and expertise. Key responsibilities include:
1. Diagnosing and managing glaucoma and other ocular conditions
2. Performing diagnostic tests (visual fields, OCT, Volk, CCT, gonioscopy)
3. Managing glaucoma referrals and providing pre/post-operative care
4. Collaborating with healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans
5. Participating in team meetings and service development
6. Maintaining accurate records and ensuring regulatory compliance
7. Educating patients and families about glaucoma management
Requirements
* Medical degree from a recognized university
* GMC registration with UK license
* Experience in ophthalmology, especially glaucoma management and independent working abilities
* UK NHS glaucoma clinic experience
* Gonioscopy and SLT laser experience
* Excellent diagnostic, clinical, and communication skills
* Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
