Our client is urgently looking for an experienced MES Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.
The role is based in southern Oxfordshire, with easy access to Oxford, Swindon, and the A34/M4. Due to the location, a driving license/car is essential.
Please note, the role is on-site 5 days per week. Remote working will be permitted on an ad-hoc/special request basis.

Minimum Requirements:
1. Minimum 5 years of proven experience in industrial automation, MES/SCADA systems, and machine control in high-tech manufacturing environments (battery systems, FMCG, etc.).
2. Hands-on experience in designing, commissioning, and validating automation, electrical, and control systems for machines and high-speed production lines.
3. Expertise in developing and standardizing automation solutions, including PLC, HMI, robotics, and SCADA systems.
4. Experience in RFQ preparation, vendor selection, and supplier management for automation projects, from prototype solutions to full-scale implementations.
5. Integration of MES with production equipment, ensuring real-time data exchange and traceability.
6. Strong background in automation safety standards (CMSE certification preferred).
7. Project management skills, including stakeholder coordination, scheduling, and risk assessment.
8. Deep understanding of MES data flow from PLCs to databases/cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, SQL, MongoDB).
9. Experience in designing and implementing data handling solutions to optimize manufacturing processes, including product traceability, telemetry, and process monitoring.
10. PLC & HMI Programming: Expertise in Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff TwinCAT, and Allen Bradley. Ability to modify and optimize PLC code for data collection, automation control, and troubleshooting.
11. Industrial Networking & Protocols: Proficiency in OPC UA, Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet-IP for communication between industrial devices.
12. Data Analytics & Visualization: Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, and C# to develop data-driven insights from automation systems.
13. Machine Connectivity & IIoT: Strong understanding of IoT sensors, vision systems (Keyence), and conveyor integration.
14. Electrical & Control Panel Design: Ability to review and approve electrical schematics, network topologies, and control system layouts.
15. System Standardization & Best Practices: Development of automation and electrical standards to ensure scalable, safe, and connected factory solutions.
