Overview
Millfield School is seeking a full-time Teacher of Mathematics to join our cheerful, dynamic and forward-looking department from January 2026. With 23 members of staff, the department combines professionalism with a strong sense of teamwork, creating an inspiring environment for both pupils and teachers. Mathematics is one of the most popular subjects at Millfield, attracting nearly 100 sixth formers each year, and results are consistently strong across IGCSE, Additional Mathematics and A level, with many pupils progressing to top universities, including Oxbridge. The successful candidate will be passionate about mathematics, eager to inspire curiosity and confidence in students of all abilities, and keen to develop their own teaching within a collaborative and well-resourced setting where every teacher has their own classroom, technology and small class sizes. Extra-curricular mathematics is a vibrant part of school life, with opportunities to support enrichment through competitions, clubs, visiting speakers and extension workshops.
Responsibilities
* Teach Mathematics to a range of abilities across key stages, contributing to high standards of pupil progress.
* Inspire curiosity, confidence and enthusiasm for mathematics in all students.
* Develop teaching within a collaborative and well-resourced department with access to technology and small class sizes.
* Support enrichment through extra-curricular mathematics, including competitions, clubs, visiting speakers and extension workshops.
* Engage with professional development and contribute to department and school improvement initiatives.
* Be flexible with staffing needs; part-time candidates may be considered for the right person.
Qualifications and experience
* Applications are welcome from experienced teachers, ECTs and those with strong mathematical backgrounds who are keen to gain teaching qualifications.
