Job Summary
CDDFT Podiatry Department are looking for an enthusiastic and committed member of staff to join our diverse team, which covers 6 localities. The position involves the provision of diabetic foot screening to the Darlington population. The successful candidates would have the opportunity to complete work-based competencies specific to the job and will be assigned a dedicated mentor. The successful applicant would be based in our multi chair clinic in Darlington.
Main duties of the job
* Work as a clinical support worker to support the three core teams:
1. Assessment / Biomechanics
2. General Podiatry
3. Specialised Podiatry Services
- Observe and promote the Trust's values and behaviours
- Assist the podiatrist to carry out podiatric care and podiatric health care education activities
- Implement delegated podiatric care including diabetic screening in a range of settings
- Assist in the training of new staff
- Participate in service transformation activity with a view to continuous service improvement and value for money

Job Responsibilities
- To undertake diabetic annual foot screening sessions
- To provide foot care advice to individual patients, relatives and carers
- To provide assistance to the podiatrist in minor surgery sessions, wound care sessions
- To be responsible for the maintenance of their own patient records
- To participate in the undertaking of patient surveys and audits where required
Person Specification
Special Requirements Essential
* Must be mobile, have access to transport and be able to work in a variety of locations as work may be undertaken in more than one location during the day
Experience Essential
* Experience of working with the elderly or in a caring role
Desirable
* Experience of delivering foot care
Special Skills & Knowledge Essential
* Ability to communicate health-related information in an understandable way to patients and colleagues, adapting their communication style to meet the needs of the recipient
* Good organisational skills
Desirable
* Knowledge of podiatric conditions, procedures acquired through training or experience
* Conversant with the use of SystmOne
Qualifications Essential
* Successful completion of on-the-job training to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
* Basic numeracy and literacy
