Job Summary
Salaried GP 4 Sessions (Possibility of increasing to 5 or 6 sessions). The post-holder will manage and be responsible for a defined caseload of patients and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone and video consultations, triaging patients on the triage list, on-call doctor duties, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
* Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols.
* Provide counselling and health education.
* Admit or discharge patients to and from relevant caseloads and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
* Record clear and factual consultation notes to agreed standards; collect data for audit purposes.
* Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary.
Other Responsibilities Within The Organisation
* Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines (e.g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety).
* Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
* Contribute to the development of computer-based patient records and to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data.
* Attend training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
Contribution to the Implementation of Services
* Apply Practice policies, standards, and guidance; discuss with team how policies will affect own work.
* Participate in audit where appropriate and work with GPs, nurses, practice manager, reception, and administration staff; collaborate with external providers including care home staff, district nurses and hospital teams.
Contribution to Usual GP Workload
* Complete routine daily surgery.
* Complete on-call surgeries shared pro rata between all GPs.
* Complete a pro-rata share of paperwork after full clinical document management by the administration team.

We work with our county cluster and GP collaborative for service development and collaborative working.

Qualifications
* Essential: Full GMC Registration with license to practice and entry on the GP Register; Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice / CEGPR, or equivalent; included on Medical Performers List or eligible; evidence of continuous professional development.
* Desirable: Additional qualifications or experience in specific areas of clinical interest; experience in clinical leadership, teaching, or mentoring roles.
Experience
* Essential: GMC-registered GP with licence to practise; commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care; team-focused with good communication skills.
* Desirable: Interest in education, research, or collaborative working welcomed.
Essential Criteria
* Proven ability to handle a busy and varied primary care caseload and respond flexibly to workload fluctuations.
* Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance.
* Commitment to participating in and understanding of the management process.
* Good IT proficiency.
* Ability to develop and sustain relationships with a wide range of individuals and within groups.
* Ability to draft letters, reports and protocols in a timely manner.
Desirable Criteria
* Audit Good Clinical Practice Certificate; teaching/training experience.
