Being a Field Engineer at London Gatwick, you will contribute to the development and growth of the world's most efficient single-runway airport. Working in a fast-paced, live environment, you will collaborate with supportive and skilled colleagues who take pride in their work.
As a Field Engineer within our Airfields and Civils Programme, you will work closely with the Project Management team to supervise strategic construction projects, focusing on health and safety, quality, and progress. Our projects on the Airfield range from £1m to £150m, including work on runways, taxiways, roads, and upgrading air traffic control systems.

The role
Reporting to the Senior Field Engineer or Programme Construction Manager, you will play a key role in delivering complex projects across London Gatwick. Your responsibilities include:
1. Collaborating with internal teams and contractors to ensure project success.
2. Delivering site safety engagement to ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards and fostering a positive HSE culture.
3. Reviewing contractor CDM, quality, and commissioning submittals for compliance.
4. Inspecting work to ensure adherence to drawings and specifications.
5. Producing detailed daily shift reports on safety, progress, and quality.
6. Coordinating with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure proper installation of works.
What are we looking for?
The live environment at London Gatwick demands a flexible, adaptable approach, problem-solving skills, and an innovative outlook. You should have experience working on projects from inception to completion, collaborating with multiple stakeholders. The role requires:
* Experience as a Field Engineer, Site Engineer, NEC Supervisor, or Clerk of Works in construction or civil engineering sectors, managing multi-year projects valued up to £10 million.
* Skills in project handover and closeout processes.
* Proficiency in identifying and resolving HSE issues related to construction.
* Knowledge of quality management principles and practices.
* Ability to work night shifts, if required.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
