About the Role
Recognizing that people are at the heart of delivering our ambitions, we have an exciting opportunity for a talented person to join us as an Equality Impact Assessment Specialist. Working as part of a programme team and reporting to the Senior Accessibility Specialist, you will lead the development, piloting, and embedding of a new Equality Impact Assessment process, while upskilling colleagues for use across the organization.
You will build close relationships with stakeholders, including project managers, the portfolio office, transformation teams, and the EDI team, working collaboratively to ensure policies, projects, and programmes are equitable from their inception. You should have experience in conducting and supporting Equality Impact Assessments or similar data analysis to inform evidence-based decision-making, and be capable of leading change to improve inclusivity.
This role may include line managing volunteers. It is ideal for a passionate advocate of equity, diversity, and inclusion, with an understanding of key issues and the ability to lead operational change.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
1. Experience in conducting and supporting Equality Impact Assessments or similar assessments and data analysis.
2. Strong understanding of intersectionality and generalist EDI knowledge, including the Equality Act 2010.
3. Experience delivering strategic interventions and influencing positive change at all levels.
4. Ability to challenge internal policies and practices to promote inclusion.
5. Experience designing and delivering EDI resources and training in various formats.
6. Strong project management skills to plan and deliver high-quality work on time and within resources.
7. Experience contributing to change management and organizational transitions.
8. Data analysis and interpretation skills.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
1. Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, PowerPoint, and project management systems.
2. Understanding of environmental sector EDI issues and barriers to participation.
3. Line management experience.
This is a fixed-term, part-time role for 22.5 hours per week. The RSPB may extend or make the role permanent depending on business needs.
