The post holder will be eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register in Forensic Psychiatry or General Adult Psychiatry.
The primary duties include providing consultant leadership for the Mental Health In-reach Team at the prisons. The role involves 5.5 DCC divided as follows:
1. 2 days per week at HMP Guys Marsh (3.5 PA DCC)
2. 1 day per week at HMP Erlestoke (2 PA DCC)
The post holder will have 2 SPA allocated for activities supporting their professional role, such as teaching, training, clinical management, clinical governance, service development, and other relevant activities.
There are no on-call commitments associated with this post.
Clinical work – HMP Guys Marsh & HMP Erlestoke
* Assessing and reviewing prisoners; collaborating with MDTs and prisoners to formulate management plans incorporated into individualised care plans.
* Liaising with external services for CPAs, aftercare plans, or transfers to hospital.
* Providing expert advice and guidance for individuals with complex mental states and risk presentations.
* Leading or actively participating in MDT meetings.
* Performing other care activities expected of a consultant in a prison in-reach capacity.
* Involvement in quality improvement initiatives, as agreed with colleagues and managers.
There is protected time for administrative tasks and mental health act-related work if needed.
