Occupational Therapist – Adult Intake Team
Location: Barking & Dagenham
Contract: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Rate: £32–£35 per hour (UMB)
Working Pattern: 3 days in the office / 2 days working from home
About the Role We’re recruiting on behalf of Barking & Dagenham Council for a Qualified Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Intake Team.
In this role, you’ll undertake person-centred assessments in line with the Care Act 2014, using your professional OT skills to create and implement support plans that promote independence, wellbeing, and improved quality of life for adults and children with disabilities.
You’ll also provide expert advice on specialist equipment, adaptations, and housing solutions to help individuals live safely and comfortably in their homes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Complete person-centred assessments under the Care Act 2014
2. Develop and implement tailored support and care plans
3. Provide specialist recommendations on equipment, housing adaptations, and assistive technology
4. Promote independence and wellbeing through therapeutic interventions
5. Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, service users, and families
6. Maintain accurate and timely case records
Requirements
Qualified Occupational Therapist
HCPC Registered
Post-qualifying experience within a social care setting
Knowledge of local authority services and community-based support
Strong communication and assessment skills
