We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

We are actively seeking highly skilled and dedicated Special Needs Education Assistants who possess a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs. Our team is committed to making a positive impact on students facing various challenges, providing compassionate care, and contributing to the betterment of our community. Embracing a collaborative approach to staff development is integral to enhancing our collective expertise, underscoring the importance of a proactive attitude and a genuine eagerness to learn. The suitable candidates should deplay flexibility, collaborating seamlessly with all staff to cultivate robust relationships within the school community and ensure optimal outcomes for every student. The core objectives of this position revolve around assisting students in realizing their full potential by fostering academic, physical, and social development.

As an Education Assistant – Special Needs, your role encompasses facilitating the delivery of structured education programs. This involves overseeing small groups of students under the teacher's guidance to nurture young minds and contribute to the overall health and well-being of students. Your work environment is collaborative, providing crucial support to students within the classroom setting. Valuable experience in working with students dealing with autism spectrum disorder, mental health issues, medical conditions, and behavioural special needs would be highly advantageous.

2. obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
3. consent to a and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

8. Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
9. Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
10. Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
11. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students
