About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support cutting-edge audio research in a state-of-the-art data collection facility. The role involves assisting engineers and project coordinators, running data collection campaigns, interacting with participants, and ensuring high-quality metadata and experiment execution. Over time, you may take on responsibility for running certain experiments independently.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the execution of audio data collection campaigns.
* Set up and operate equipment for research studies and prototype demonstrations.
* Work directly with participants, ensuring clarity on their tasks and smooth interactions.
* Accurately record, maintain, and validate metadata for experiments.
* Support project coordinators with scheduling and administrative tasks.
* Contribute to experiment planning and protocol design.
* Take ownership of smaller experimental runs or demonstrations as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Natural Sciences, Psychology, Humanities, or equivalent experience).
* 2–4 years of experience in a research environment, preferably involving data collection.
* Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
* Ability to work full-time onsite in Cambridge, UK.
Preferred Qualifications
* Programming experience (e.g., Python, R).
* Experience handling prototype devices or experimental equipment.
* Knowledge or experience in audio, sound engineering, or music production.
* Previous experience with research studies or human participant interaction.
