Emergency Duty Team Social Worker – AMHP
** Rate:** £59 per hour
** Location:** North East (hybrid working with flexibility)
** Contract:** Short-term cover for sickness absence, with potential for extension

1. Be part of an established and supportive Emergency Duty Team, stepping in to maintain continuity during short-term sickness absence.
2. Operate within a solid management framework that includes an AMHP-qualified Head of Function and Team Manager.
3. Deliver vital, out-of-hours crisis interventions that safeguard children and adults in urgent need.
Key Responsibilities
4. Deliver AMHP assessments under the Mental Health Act and urgent child protection interventions outside usual office hours.
5. Respond rapidly to safeguarding crises, making high-stakes decisions autonomously and collaboratively.
6. Work closely with partner agencies such as police, health services, and housing to coordinate emergency responses.
7. Maintain accurate, timely records in compliance with statutory and local requirements.
8. Bring professional guidance and support to colleagues in high-pressure, real-time situations.
About You
You are a resilient and skilled practitioner who:
9. Is a Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
10. Holds Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status or is undergoing AMHP training with supported session involvement.
11. Has considerable post-qualifying experience, ideally with both child protection and mental health contexts in statutory social work.
12. Is confident working under pressure, able to make autonomous decisions and provide professional leadership in crisis environments.
