Overview:
Envisage is seeking a Lead Engineer within our Vehicle Structures team, reporting to the Technical Group Leader. This role is a maternity cover focused on the delivery of HV battery enclosures, Frames, Lids, sealing, venting, and bracketry. You will be responsible for ensuring all in-flight programs meet the latest technical requirements and strategies, ensuring efficient integration and compatibility of the structure to deliver necessary attribute targets.
As a Project Lead Engineer, you will manage the design and development of components on specific platforms during the delivery phase. You will hold responsibility for achieving targets related to cost, weight, NVH, dynamics, safety, and function, while managing design and tooling releases to suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the engineering of components and systems within a complex team environment.
• Deliver HV Battery, Body, or Subframe structural parts from concept to production.
• Ensure components meet performance attributes including durability, stiffness, NVH, weight, and cost.
• Manage mechanical design of safety-critical structural components.
• Coordinate with Vehicle and Power Unit program teams for seamless integration.
• Execute design and tooling releases to the supply base.
• Multitask across various in-flight programs with minimal supervision.
Technical Skills & Requirements:
• Expertise in battery enclosures, frames, and thermal sealing/venting.
• High proficiency in body structures or subframe components.
• Proven background in safety-critical component development.
• Deep understanding of durability, stiffness, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness).
• Strong execution skills with the ability to lead complex engineering projects.
• CAD integration, Tooling Release, Mechanical Design, Vehicle Structures, HV Battery Enclosures, Weight/Cost Optimization, IR35 Compliance.
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a comparable technical qualification.
• Proven track record in a Lead Engineer or Senior Specialist role within automotive vehicle structures.
