Principal Civil Structural Engineer role at Kent.
Overview
Kent is looking for a Principal Civil Structural Engineer who will be responsible for leading and coordinating the production of engineering deliverables and providing progress reporting for a project in accordance with the project plan. Typically supervises a team of civil/structural engineers to address all discipline-specific requirements within the project. In addition, has the capability to perform hands-on engineering tasks and undertake/manage specialist studies and reviews. Supports the project management team in planning and identifying technical issues which could limit progress or impact project budgets. Supports the Civil/Structural Group Manager with development of discipline engineers and ensuring technical excellence.
Responsibilities
* Lead civil/structural engineering work on projects, acting as lead engineer or specialist consultant on feasibility, concept, FEED, detailed design or EPC projects.
* Formulate resolutions to technically challenging or high-profile issues and communicate effectively with project engineers, project management, clients and senior management.
* Undertake specialist activities or reviews within high-competency areas of civil/structural engineering.
* Supervise, review and check civil/structural activities and ensure compliance with the Civil/Structural Design Manual.
* Identify and resolve discrepancies from original proposals/contracts, raise technical queries, and manage changes where applicable.
* Provide construction support as required and participate in multi-discipline design reviews.
* Review ITB documents, prepare and review man-hour estimates, inputs to the project execution plan and schedule; supervise civil/structural technical design deliverables.
* Plan and schedule civil/structural activities and allocate resources in conjunction with the civil/structural group manager.
* Provide regular project updates and reporting to project management and the civil/structural group manager.
* Support procurement for long-lead items, including technical requisitions and vendor documentation reviews.
* Ensure compatibility with client specifications and seek cost-effective/value-added improvements within requirements.
* Coordinate with quality assurance on ISO/QMS procedures and participate in internal and client audits.
* Support performance development, identify training needs, and contribute to staff recruitment and development in consultation with the civil/structural group manager.
Qualifications & Skills
* Masters Degree in Engineering.
* Chartered Status preferred. Related experience in Oil and Gas and/or Low Carbon Energy Transition industries.
* Excellent technical knowledge in Civil and Structural Engineering for industrial and process plants sectors.
* Strong knowledge in foundations, piling, reinforced concrete structures, steel structures, and buildings; with additional knowledge of civil and underground engineering.
* Hands-on structural engineering tools and software capabilities; Staad Pro experience preferred.
* Excellent coordination, monitoring and supervisory skills, plus good communication and teamwork.
* Proactive, detail-oriented, cost-conscious, and able to resolve issues independently.
Communication & Core Competencies
* Good written and spoken communication skills.
* Exposure to consultancy, FEED/detailed design and EPC projects.
* Knowledge of international standards, codes, safety and quality procedures.
* Specialist/high competency in specific civil/structural areas; global work share management experience.
