Professional Regulations Lawyer (Investigations)

Are you passionate about ensuring high standards of care in pharmacy services? Do you thrive in a dynamic regulatory environment where your technical knowledge can drive positive change? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Investigations Lawyer.

As an Investigations Lawyer you will own a small caseload of complex investigations.

Provide legal advice and support at all stages allowing staff to actively investigate matters of regulatory concern.

To act as an advocate representing the GPhC before short fitness to practise hearings including interim order applications or review hearings when required.

You must be a self-starter able to make autonomous, robust, proportionate, and evidence-based decisions. You will be expected to lead as a technical expert in investigation, playing a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of care for people using pharmacy services.


Important notice for applicants

As part of our pre-employment screening process, this role is subject to a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. In addition, the GPhC will conduct Fitness to Practise (FtP) checks for any applicant who is currently, or has previously been, a registrant of the GPhC. Applicants will be asked to declare this during the application process and may be subject to further internal verification. Any findings may be considered as part of the recruitment decision.


The successful applicant will:

* Be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister, minimum 3 years PQE with a strong background in advising others.
* Have a high level of skill and experience of investigations and the preparation of cases for a hearing.
* Have a detailed knowledge of investigative methods, rules of evidence, tribunal, regulatory caselaw and procedure.
* Have the ability to assimilate, understand, interpret and explain complex legislation, including those relating to medicines and controlled drugs.
* Be able to analyse, manage and problem solve complex and sensitive issues.
* Have proven experience of managing a full personal caseload.
* Have worked successfully as a team member with the ability to provide positive support and encouragement to colleagues.
* Have strong presentation skills, ideally through prior advocacy or case presenting roles
