Responsibilities
* Control the sourcing strategy for a selected group of direct commodities.
* Have full autonomy to make changes to the supply base and drive improvements as desired.
* Identify, benchmark, and select new suppliers to deliver the sourcing strategy.
* Manage an established global network of manufacturers to deliver materials against challenging and fluctuating MRP and project schedules.
* Establish contracts and framework agreements to ensure security of supply and delivery of improvements against KPIs.
* Identify alternative global commodity sources to reduce supply costs and improve quality.
* Implement and progress effective supplier development plans, yielding tangible improvements.
* Coordinate activities between engineering and suppliers to improve manufacturability of materials, components, and assemblies based on operational priorities.
* Manage supplier performance, drawing on experience and performance data to yield consistent improvements.
* Work with project teams to establish procurement requirements and ensure suppliers deliver against project milestones, specifications, and objectives.
* Participate in or lead delivery of internal procurement projects or other related activities as required.
Qualifications
* Strong working knowledge of SAP (highly advantageous).
* Specific commodity management experience (e.g., machined metal components, electronic assemblies, ceramics, mechanical assemblies, raw materials).
* Significant procurement experience in a highly technical/engineering environment.
* Significant experience working in a direct manufacturing environment (preferably low volume/high mix).
* Knowledge of supply chain, material management, demand forecasting, and engineering change management principles.
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (advantageous).
* MCIPS qualifications (advantageous).
* Working with Excel to compile and evaluate data; MS Office proficiency – Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio, PowerPoint.
* Capability to manage change effectively.
* Global travel may be required.
