Overview
Environmental Practitioner Level 6 Apprentice full of enthusiasm and potential to support an integrated environmental planning team. The team focuses on improving water environment and managing water resources. You will work with a wide range of environmental data and information to understand problems and identify where actions are needed. This is a varied role; you will gain broad experience across water resource and water quality management and receive on-the-job training plus formal learning support.
Responding to incidents is a central part of the role. You may be asked to take an incident role and be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
* Work with the integrated environment planning team to produce environmental evidence informing local priorities and investment.
* Access and analyse environmental data to understand problems and determine where actions are needed.
* Collaborate with internal and external teams to support water quality and water resource management.
* Respond to incidents as required and support business continuity during incidents (training provided).
* Engage with stakeholders and contribute to learning through on-the-job training and formal learning with a dedicated Talent Coach.
Qualifications and requirements
* Demonstrable interest in the natural world — from study, volunteering, etc.
* Any qualification(s) that give the required number (103) UCAS points; the apprenticeship is a fully funded 53-month learning commitment resulting in a degree-level qualification.
* Not suitable for those who already hold a level 6 degree in a similar subject; those with level 6 qualifications in an unrelated subject are eligible to apply.
* Available to those 18 or over; no upper age restriction.
* Right to work in the UK and UK residency for a minimum of three years.
* Experience with Excel; willingness to learn databases and geographical information systems.
* Good verbal and written communication skills; effective planning and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines; sound data- and evidence-based decision making.
* Desirable: Full UK Driving Licence.
Details
* Base location: Bridgwater or Blandford; flexible working patterns including job share.
* Travel: some travel to attend internal meetings and site visits.
* Contract length: Up to 53 months.
* Apprenticeship structure: combination of online learning, remote workshops, and on-the-job training with a Talent Coach.
* Interviews: expected w/c 3 November, face-to-face at the Bridgwater Office.
