Our Public Sector Client based in Barnsley requires an Assistant Planning Co-Ordinator to join their busy Early Help Team, supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs. The role is temporary running through to November 2025 and is paying an hourly rate of £13.69 per hour.
The main purpose of role is to carry out statutory duties in relation to casework for children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on behalf of the Local Authority and provide support to the Early Help Team.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
Support the implementation of the Council's statutory duties with regard to the issuing and maintaining of education health and care plans for children and young people.
* Respond to customer enquiries (some of which may be upsetting) received through multiple access channels including, telephony, face to face and e-mail, in accordance with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice, standards of professional conduct and taking into account any safeguarding issues.
* Deliver comprehensive information, advice and guidance on statutory Special Educational Needs processes through front line services to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
* To work closely with key stakeholders to deliver service improvements and deliver efficiencies throughout the Council by promoting the Council's Digital First principles of maximising channel shift from paper based applications to the Service's online portal.
* Preparation for and administration of Statutory Assessment panels according to statutory timescales, including vigorous tracking of cases, creating agendas, attending meetings, accurate minute taking and dissemination of actions which also require recording according to appropriate tracking processes.
* Order goods and services via procurement system, resolve financial queries and create new financial Vendors in accordance with financial procedures and regulations.
* To assist in preparation of documentation for statutory panels, appeals and tribunal cases as per legal requirements.
* Handle complaints and difficult or emotive customers in a calm and professional manner, ensuring a customer focussed service, demonstrating initiative, decision making skills, diplomacy and resilience in a demanding environment.
* Adopt a helpful and approachable manner as a member of the team to promote a high quality service within a culture of continuous improvement including making a positive contribution to service development activities and objectives in conjunction with other team members to ensure overall performance targets are met and colleagues supported in their training and development.
*Support, assess and process applications for needs assessments within statutory processes, support the project management of education health and care plans, annual reviews, quality checking individual submissions and informing customers of the outcome of their application within statutory timescales.
There is a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Business Administration required and the successful applicant would need an Enhanced DBS check.
