Technical Clerk / Draughtsperson
Position Context:
The role is primarily office-based, working within the Engineering team with a high level of interaction with project managers, engineers and contractors.
Main tasks :
Technical Drawing & Design (Draughtsperson Component)
Create Technical Drawings: Produce detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings, P&IDs, layouts, and schematics using AutoCAD software.
Interpret Specifications: Translate sketches and engineering specifications into actionable construction, fabrication or installation drawings.
Revisions: Update existing drawings, ensuring version control.
Material Calculations: Calculate dimensions, material quantities and specifications for inclusion in drawings.
Document Control & Administration (Technical Clerk Component)
Manage Documentation: Maintain accurate drawing logs, file systems and databases (e.g., in accordance with ISO 9001).
Distribute Information: Distribute final, approved drawings to site engineering team and contractors.
Document Control: Control the archiving of as-built drawings, technical specifications and RFIs (Requests for Information).
Technical Reporting: Prepare reports on drawing progress, technical changes and document status for project management.
Technical Support: Assisting engineering teams with document preparation, including technical proposals.
Information Flow: Ensuring accurate and timely flow of information between on-site workers and project management teams.
Procurement: Follow the purchasing procedures and raise purchase orders, track progress, receipt and, where necessary, expedite.
Required skills :
IT Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint) and familiarity with management systems (e.g., SAP, document control software).
Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of construction terminology, drawings, and site processes.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to accuracy to prevent errors in design and construction.
Organisation: Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Communication: Effective verbal and written skills for liaising with diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications: A minimum of 5 GCSEs/equivalent, with qualifications in construction or administration being advantageous.
