Overview
Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Deputy Director of Estates to provide senior leadership across a large, diverse estate supporting community health services. The role supports and deputises for the Director of Estates, delivering the Trust’s Estates Delivery Plan, overseeing capital investment, property strategy, and ensuring alignment between development and service needs. The post includes direct line management of the Head of Land & Property and the Head of Capital, with senior oversight of estate risks and statutory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
* Provide senior leadership for the Estates Directorate and act as full deputy to the Director.
* Lead delivery of the Estates Delivery Plan and ensure estate strategy supports high‑quality patient care.
* Oversee strategic capital planning and develop robust business cases for estate investment.
* Provide senior oversight of Capital, Property and wider estate planning functions.
* Lead and support the Heads of Land & Property and Capital, ensuring coordinated and effective management of these areas.
* Provide assurance across all estate risks, governance arrangements and statutory responsibilities.
* Build strong relationships with internal leaders, partners and external agencies to ensure effective estate planning and delivery.
* Support long‑term estate optimisation, rationalisation opportunities and improvements to estate performance.
Qualifications
* Senior NHS estates experience or equivalent in a complex environment.
* Strong strategic and capital planning skills.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities.
* Professional estates, engineering, property or construction background.
