We are looking for a Senior Environmental Crime Officer to join our National Investigations Team. You will work with Senior Investigation Managers and our Major Incident Room to lead investigations into the most serious and complex environmental crimes.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and oversee all aspects of investigations from identifying lines of enquiry, reviewing intelligence, raising and allocating actions, coordinating evidence gathering and interviews, to casefile preparation and prosecution.
* Drive cases forward by leveraging your knowledge and experience, working with Partnership Organisations, and leading investigative teams and complex investigations.
* Handle investigations that can involve Organised Crime Groups, illegal waste exports and large-scale fraud.
* Welcome and train new team members as part of developing the team and its capabilities.
* Travel as required for meetings and operational duties; respond to incidents and provide business continuity support as needed.

* Team: National Environmental Crime Unit within the National Regulation and Monitoring Team
* Location: Hybrid role (home and Environment Agency Office) with travel requirements
* Salary/conditions: As per Environment Agency policies
Qualifications and experience
* High level of attention to detail; hardworking, self-motivated with a strong investigative background
* In-depth knowledge of investigative legislation (PACE, CPIA); excellent verbal and written communication; basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Teams)
* Knowledge of environmental crime, leading serious criminal investigations and Major Incident Room operations desirable
* Experience in driving and developing investigation teams; initiative to find solutions
* Full driving licence required
* Successful completion of SC and NPPV2 Vetting within 6 months of appointment

* This role requires flexibility for hybrid working, with potential travel for meetings and operational duties. Incident response duties may attract additional payment and training; adjustments provided as needed.
