Manufacturing Engineer Supply Chain - Composite Technology Facility

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Bristol, where we are currently developing manufacturing methods, processes and materials for composite fan blades and fan containment casings. We are currently going through an exciting phase of growth as we deliver composite components and manufacturing programmes across a range of products, including UltraFan® Demonstrator Programme.

The Composite Technology Facility (CTF) is part of our Compressor Components business unit, supporting Rolls-Royce's civil aviation section. There is an excellent opportunity for a Composite Assembly Manufacturing Engineer to work within our business and within the UltraFan® Engine Integrated Project Team. This work will involve developing the hardware for a Mk2 Engine Architecture to support the development programme. This role will be based in CTF Bristol on the Filton site. Your role will also involve working closely with internal and external suppliers, where travel would be required.

This roll will give the chosen applicant an opportunity to develop experience of composite assembly processes within Rolls-Royce and enable them to influence the creation and delivery of the next generation fan system. The successful candidate will be expected to manage to relationship with the CTF supply chain ensuring the expected level of quality and conformance of hardware delivered into the CTF. They will be expected to develop a firm understanding of the product and process requirements and then execute improvements in line with agreed timescales and budgets.

What you will be doing
In this exciting role, you will look after:
Build a working relationship with the CTFs supply chain, hold regular reviews with them to confirm progress and completion of actions. List of supplier's processes includes but is not limited to Impact liners and metalwork assembly.Resolve technical issues and arising challenges within the CTF's supply-chain. Use the supplier management system to lead and instruct problem resolution across a range of suppliers and escalation of issues that will cause programme delays into the CTF management team. Oversee Supplier approvals process through the SABRe Process, release of fixed process documentation through ARIS management system, and approval of special processes through SPG.Driving supply-chain processes to Zero Defects through cost and quality waterfalls as part of the industrialization phases for the UltraFan® Programme.Identify opportunities for new or improved processes within the supply-chain for both current and future requirements. Identify and share best practice best practices with the suppliers and ensure value for money for Rolls-Royce.Management of hardware delivered into the CTF up to the point that it is consumed into the manufacturing method, including resolution of non-conformance highlight during goods receipt inspection.

An Engineering or relevant discipline degree, HND or HNC with Manufacturing Engineering experience.General understanding of relevant manufacturing engineering processes relevant to their role - preferred technical knowledge in assembly impact liners or honeycomb sandwich structures.Experience with supplier management and working within an aerospace management system.Understanding of manufacturing capability development processes TRL and manufacturing engineering toolset.An ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decision across technical and business parameters.Good team working skills and ability to influence are essential.
