The work pattern for this role will be Monday through Friday 0800-1615.
Other Registered Adult Nurse, on part 1 of the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) register, required. Other Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health required. Evidence of up-to-date knowledge base of professional and specialist issues. Sound educational background including a good standard of numeracy and written English. Other post-registration experience in adult nursing and experience in occupational health nursing including experience of working at Band 7 or equivalent outside the NHS.
Position Purpose: Provide all aspects of workplace professional advice to senior management and employees including but not limited to occupational health surveillance, screening and immunization services, consultation, referrals, risk assessments, education, and testing where appropriate and in accordance with Gulfstream policies and national legislation.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive occupational health, wellbeing, and health surveillance programme for employees and provide all aspects of occupational health in compliance with current Health and Safety legislation.
2. Advise and guide managers and employees on wellbeing initiatives in the workplace.
3. Collaborate with managers to promote a healthy work environment by providing professional advice and guidance.
4. Advise managers and employees on an individual's fitness to work at pre-employment and during employment, considering relevant legislation such as the Disability component of the Equality Act 2010.
5. Develop and deliver wellbeing initiatives to enhance employee awareness and engagement.
6. Maintain accurate and confidential health records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
7. Collaborate with HR, EHS, and management to implement proactive injury prevention and workplace health promotion measures.
8. Provide comprehensive advice and reports on all aspects of Occupational Health, including sickness absence and case management/return-to-work advice for employees referred by managers, EHS, and HR.
9. Assess employees following body fluid exposure, undertake risk assessments for bloodborne viruses, and take appropriate actions following DoH guidelines.
Additional Functions:
1. Knowledge and experience of Occupational Health in the Business Sector.
2. Experience with HAVS/Audiometry/Spirometry/ workplace assessments.
3. Knowledge of occupational diseases and health issues arising from the working environment.
4. Effective time management and prioritization skills.
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
6. In-depth knowledge of occupational health regulations, standards, and best practices.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
8. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
9. Experience in developing and reviewing standard operating protocols.
10. Management and/or leadership experience.
11. Ability to assess, plan, and communicate workplace adjustments for staff unable to complete their roles due to illness or disability.
12. Self-motivated and proactive work approach.
13. Presentation skills.
14. Ability to plan and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
15. Competent in IT packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and spreadsheets.
16. Respect for colleagues', patients', and relatives' cultural, religious, and emotional needs.
Other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements:
1. Experience in NHS occupational health preferred.
2. Mental Health Nursing qualification.
3. NEBOSH qualification.
