Job description
Suitable candidates will come from a heavy engineering background - ideally ship repair, oil and gas or offshore.
You will be responsible for carrying out fabrication tasks to a high standard of safety, accuracy, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
* Read, interpret, and work from complex engineering drawings and specifications
* Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steelwork and components to required tolerances
* Cut, shape, and prepare materials using a variety of hand and power tools
* Carry out plating, fitting, and welding operations as required
* Ensure work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards
* Work independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines
* Follow all site safety procedures
Candidate Requirements:
* Time served Apprenticeship or SVQ/NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication
* Previous background in marine, oil & gas or offshore
* Ability to work directly from engineering drawings
* Proven experience in fabrication, plating, and structural steelwork
* Safety conscious with a good knowledge of health & safety regulations
* Ability to work flexibly, including overtime
Rates and hours:
1. 40 hours per week standard, Overtime is available and currently being worked (3 afternoons and a saturday morning)
2. PAYE: £17.17/h plus £2.07/h holiday pay (can be accrued or advanced) or Umbrella co/CIS: £23/h
3. Overtime (x1.5) - PAYE: £25.76/h plus £3.11/h holiday pay or Umbrella/CIS: £34.50/h
The current contract is running until Christmas 2025.
