Description Do you have exceptional data skills with the ability to think outside of the box to provide financial insight to a wide range of stakeholders? The NHS Scotland Finance Delivery Unit (FDU) aims to drive sustainable financial improvement, deliver insight and provide support and expertise to NHS Boards to improve their financial position. As a Senior Finance & Data Manager, you will report to the Head of Financial Improvement, and provide robust, evidence based advice and analysis to help shape and deliver upon key priorities in the NHS Scotland financial landscape. You will have two main areas of focus; financial improvement and data analysis. You should have demonstrable financial acumen to deliver financial insight, scrutiny and challenge, but also have exemplary data skills to lead a team to create and maintain a data centre and the heart of the FDU. The data centre will collate, analyse and distribute national datasets to improve benchmarking and highlight areas for improvement. This will include considering financial, workforce and performance data. You will require strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management, being able to confidently present and explain their analysis and ensure buy in to the key messages which need to be taken forward. This will link closely with the Service Renewal Framework to ensure evidenced based decision making as we reform and change our services. Key Duties Leading a programme of work to maintain and improve the benchmarking capabilities of the NHS Scotland Finance Delivery Unit. Designing and delivering bespoke data-driven analysis based on the unique circumstances of NHS Scotland’s least financially-sustainable Health Boards. Creating a benchmarking platform to display patient-level data from a newly-installed PLICS system within NHS Boards. Leading relationships with national data platforms across NHS Scotland (e.g. Discovery and Turas). Presenting analysis to large audiences across the NHS Scotland finance community. Co-ordinating financial data requests across NHS Scotland. Designing and delivering training to upskill the data capabilities of the NHS Scotland finance community. Line managing of a team to help deliver the above. The next stage of the process will include a panel interview, including a presentation on a topic that will be provided beforehand. If invited for further assessment, this will consist of an interview and presentation. Assessments are scheduled for w/c 15th September however this may be subject to change. Working pattern Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role.
