The Role:
An Electrical Engineer will deliver the EICA design content of water industry projects as part of a multi-disciplinary design team. Operating under hybrid working arrangements, much of your time will be spent working in your own space, though we do require that you are available to work in person with the other discipline team members in your assigned office as and when the situation dictates. Generally, this will be in the order of 2/3 days per week.
Projects will typically include water and wastewater; infrastructure and non-infrastructure works design. This will include design delivery at all stages, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed designs for construction, determining the best solutions for pumping stations, treatment works, mechanical screening, chemical dosing systems, sludge handling systems etc. and the production of detailed electrical design packages for construction.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be able to:
* Undertake elements of water infrastructure design under the supervision of others, either on their own initiative or within multi-disciplinary project teams
* Obtain and analyse information, and report on findings
* Prepare and present engineering solutions to others (drawings, reports, calculations, etc)
* Produce engineering drawings, reports and undertake site surveys
* Develop designs in accordance with the client’s requirements and relevant design standards to achieve fit for purpose and cost-effective solutions
* Work collaboratively within a team environment to develop and maintain good working relationships with clients and other stakeholders
* Thrive in a fast-paced environment that brings different challenges every day
* Be familiar with health, safety and welfare e.g., Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and how these principles can be incorporated into your designs
Skills & Experience:
We want to hear from you if you:
* Are preferably BSc/BEng qualified with some post graduate experience. Individuals with qualifications that do not fully match the criteria but have the relevant experience are still invited to apply
* Have design or operational experience in a utility industry, ideally with knowledge of potable water in the UK
* Are computer literate and conversant with the MS Office suite with a basic knowledge of engineering packages such as AutoCAD
* Have good communication skills in dealing with clients and colleagues
* Employ a client focused approach to service delivery
* Have a willingness to learn
