Emissions Systems Technician – Environmental Monitoring Equipment
About the Role
We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic Emissions Systems Technician to support the production, testing, and deployment of in-house developed gas analyser systems. This role will primarily focus on emissions monitoring equipment and offers the opportunity to work on both established and emerging technologies in the environmental sector.
You will join a collaborative technical team responsible for equipment testing, diagnostics, assembly, and support. Responsibilities include preparation and evaluation of returned systems, factory and site acceptance testing, and maintaining a fleet of rental and demonstration units. You’ll also contribute to the development and improvement of analytical systems used in both UK and international markets.
This position is particularly suited to someone with experience in stack emissions testing (e.g. MCERTS Level 1 or 2) who is seeking a role in a manufacturing and R&D environment, with greater regularity in working hours and a better work-life balance. Over time, the role can expand into commercial customer support if desired.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and test emissions monitoring equipment, including both portable and fixed gas analyser systems.
* Perform diagnostics, gas checks, and repairs on returned instruments.
* Provide remote technical support to customers through a helpdesk system.
* Assemble, configure, and leak-test new analyser systems, including working with pressurised gas lines.
* Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) for emissions systems.
* Manage and maintain internal rental and demo equipment to ensure readiness and compliance.
* Participate in occasional off-site demonstrations or installations, including overseas travel (limited and optional).
* Collaborate on R&D and continuous improvement projects for existing and new product lines.
* Offer commercial support such as quotations for services and spare parts, following suitable training.
Skills and Experience
Required:
* Practical experience with emissions monitoring technologies such as FTIR, NDIR, or FID.

* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
* Technical literacy and comfort with instrumentation software.
* Knowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) standards such as EN 15267 or EN 14181.
