Are you an experienced Nurse or Qualified Carer with experience of looking after someone with Cancer? Would you like to work on a one to one basis, supporting young couple as they navigate Cancer treatment outside of the NHS?
My daughter and son in law are looking for an experienced, friendly and reliable person to support them at home as they undertake Private Cancer treatment outside of the NHS. Last year our son in law (30 years old) was sadly diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer- the first in the UK Up until 6 weeks ago he was receiving care under the NHS, Frustratingly, they have now withdrawn treatment, leaving us no choice but to seek help privately.
We are lucky to be working with 3 very well respected Professors across Europe who have devised a plan which gives us him at least a fighting chance.
We are hoping to move him out of hospital in the next week or so and therefore need to find a more accessible accommodation for them to live in, as their own home is unfortunately unfit for purpose; sadly the tumours in his spine have caused temporary paralysis, leaving him bed bound currently.
We need someone who is positive, energetic and open to alternative and whole person treatment; who values the importance of nutrition and improving wellbeing as part of our teams new strategy.
At present the role will involve repositioning, meal prep (and feeding) emptying/ cleaning his catheter, taking regular observations and importantly, keeping him company (allowing our daughter to return to work part time). For a Registered Nurse you may also be able to help us take bloods (weekly), change catheters etc.
The length of the assignment will be solely dependent on his progress with the new treatment. We have estimated and will financially commit to a 3 month term but would like to review the possibility of someone staying on beyond this time if require. There is also the potential to live in full/part time if preferred.
In order to provide much needed consistency, we are looking for someone who has no plans to holiday during this initial 3 month period. Pro rata holiday allowance will be paid alongside salary to compensate.
If you would like to be considered for this important role or would simply like to find out more, please submit an up to date CV and we will be in touch
