About the Role
Dudley Family Safeguarding Service is seeking experienced Social Workers to join our Assessments Only Team, completing social work assessments and undertaking Section 47 enquiries for new referrals from the Childrens Front Door.
Our Family Safeguarding Service uses a whole-family approach, supporting parents to create sustained change while safeguarding children. The service is a multi-disciplinary team of Social Workers, Advanced Practitioners, Child Practitioners, Drug and Alcohol Workers, Probation Officers, Domestic Abuse Workers, and Mental Health Practitioners, all focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake social work assessments and Section 47 enquiries for newly referred families.
* Engage with families to understand needs and risks, identifying the most appropriate support plans.
* Work collaboratively with families to recognise strengths and support positive change.
* Liaise closely with Targeted Early Help services, Family Hubs, and partner agencies in the community.
* Produce clear, evidence-based assessment reports compliant with statutory requirements.
* Ensure families are supported to remain together safely wherever possible, in line with Dudley Family Safeguarding Programme.
* Contribute to high-quality decision-making regarding ongoing social work support.
Essential Requirements
* Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent).
* Social Work England registration (current and active).
* Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in Childrens Services.
* Proven assessment skills with confidence in undertaking Section 47 enquiries.
* Ability to produce clear, evidence-based social work assessments.
* Strong communication, engagement, and case management skills.
* Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
