THE ROLE
The Lead Engineer is responsible for leadership of the cabin's sub system engineers and is responsible for deliverables for all aspects of defined component(s) / system(s).
AREA OF RESPONSABILITY
This positionisresponsible forestablishing,planningand running the engineering sub systemmeetings to ensureappropriate crossfunctional representation and input from all relevant areas. You will have responsibility for:
·Carpet, Loadspace, Cabin Systems, Floor Covering & Brackets
·Packaging of parts (hands on packaging reviews on physical properties)
·Part location strategy
·Manufacturing feasibility (including hands on reviews with hand cut sample parts)
·Sourcing and supplier engagement
·FMEA and DVP creation.
·Establishing the team work plan
·Ensuring progress is made by following up actions with their owners.
·Publishing minutes from each meeting
·Ensuring that the engineering sub-system delivers its objectives and targets (technical and business)
·Ensuring that programme timing objectives are met
·Communicating team progress to management
·Ensuring the effective application of APQP to manage system/ component delivery
·Ensuring vehicle builds are supported with parts at the required level
·Ensuring that issues are addressed and closed off.
·Identifying all risks to the programme.
KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE
Essential:
1. Proven project managementcapabilitydemonstratedby recent delivery on time & budgetwithin a product development environment.
2. Engineering knowledge of defined component(s) / system(s) design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements,
3. Excellent communications skills,demonstratedability to communicate at all levels,
4. PC Literacy:Microsoft Project,Power Point, Excel, Word etc
5. Significant experiencein use of engineering tools FMEA,Six Sigma,problem resolution etc.
6. Successful history ofdelivery within the automotiveproduct developmentsector.
7. Degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
Preferred:
8. CAD Literacy:ability to manipulate and interrogate CAD data and use associated visualisation tools.
9. Ability to generate CAD data in Catia v5 would be an advantage.
10. Working knowledge ofproject delivery processes .PPAP Working.
