Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for a Youth Justice Practitioner. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork and ANI are completed.
Duration: 6 months
Hours of work: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, with evening work which may be offset by Time off in lieu. Flexi working including evenings.
Rate of pay: £15.97 per hour
Location: Belfast
Main Duties Include:
* Deliver early-stage Diversion services to children/young people on the fringes of the criminal justice system.
* Manage, supervise, and deliver PPS plans, court orders, and bail supervision plans.
* Assess needs and manage risk appropriately, promoting restorative practices, rehabilitation, and resilience.
* Operate within department guidelines as directed by middle management.
* Deliver effective social work and youth work services across various intervention stages.
* Facilitate Youth engagement clinics in partnership with PSNI and PPS.
* Deliver Community resolution notice programmes to young people referred by PSNI.
* Arrange assessments to inform tailored intervention plans.
* Work closely with victims to ensure their views are heard and engaged with during the process.
* Ensure interventions are regularly planned, reviewed, and evaluated.
* Work in partnership with various stakeholders to support positive behavior change and reduce offending.
* Establish multi-agency networks to deliver interventions and support reintegration.
* Source, risk assess, and manage Reparative Activity placements.
* Participate in case conferences, reviews, and relevant meetings.
* Maintain accurate records in accordance with YJA case recording policy.
* Participate in training and support of volunteers, students, and sessional workers.
* Promote and deliver restorative approaches to support children, young people, and victims.
* Serve as an Officer of the Court, providing high-quality reports and Bail Assessments.
* Work closely with colleagues in the Juvenile Justice Centre to provide a seamless service to young people in custody.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Degree in Social Work or Youth Work & Community Work (must be one of these two degrees).
* Demonstrated experience working with young people displaying challenging behavior.
* Experience in writing formal reports.
* Driving License and access to transport for job responsibilities.
* Warner interview applicable.
Desired Experience:
* Knowledge of working with young people in a justice context.
