Overview
Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - Leeds/Hybrid. Are you an AWS Cloud infrastructure professional with experience in both AWS Cloud and Windows Server infrastructure? Join StepChange as we transform from on-premises towards cloud-based solutions and migrate to AWS. You will help implement procedural and technical aspects of Security Operations, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and liaise with MSSP/SOC.
Responsibilities
* Implement, optimise, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure robust performance, high availability, and comprehensive support.
* Maintain the charity’s legacy Windows Server environments, including troubleshooting, patching, and upgrades to ensure stability and security.
* Lead the transition of legacy workloads into modern cloud solutions where appropriate.
* Design and manage resilient, highly available infrastructure across multiple AWS regions and availability zones.
* Configure and maintain VPCs, subnets, route tables, Transit Gateways, and VPNs; leverage CloudFront, Route 53, and API Gateway for secure content delivery.
* Apply best-practice security with IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, and related services; work with Cyber Security to embed compliance, monitoring, and governance controls.
* Build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform; design CI/CD pipelines for repeatable, automated deployments.
* Monitor, log, and establish observability using CloudWatch, AWS Config, and related tooling; assist with troubleshooting and BAU escalations.
* Engage with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to support security operations and cloud modernization initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Experience supporting legacy Windows Server environments (operational support, patching, and upgrades) and transitioning workloads to cloud solutions where appropriate.
* Essential: Compute & Infrastructure skills with deploying, configuring, and optimising EC2 and related services; building multi-region, highly available AWS infrastructure.
* Essential: Storage experience in AWS, including data lifecycle policies and cost-effective storage usage.
* Essential: Networking and Content Delivery expertise (VPCs, subnets, route tables, Transit Gateways, VPNs; CloudFront, Route 53, API Gateway).
* Essential: Security practices using IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager; collaboration with Cyber Security for compliance and governance.
* Essential: Automation & Orchestration with Terraform; design of CI/CD pipelines; monitoring and observability tools.
* Desirable: Grafana monitoring; familiarity with load balancing, IP telephony, and containerisation; awareness of FCA rules, ITIL experience preferred but not essential.
* Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to security and cloud infrastructure.
