Salary: £27,000 - £37,000 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Job Introduction
In this role, you will be reporting for Asian Network’s news bulletins and the three-hour Drive time programme.
You’ll also be working on the team’s digital pieces, and a weekly discussion programme.
All on air and digital content is targeted at Asian Network’s 18-34 year old audience and reflects the lives, ambitions and interests of young British Asians. It is creative, distinct and carefully crafted to reflect and engage a younger audience.

Main Responsibilities
1. The focus of the role will be working on stories that appeal to our target audience, producing and reporting to deadline.
2. Our journalists work flexibly across the rota, so there will be opportunities to develop original stories for Asian Network and beyond.
3. You could be producing the programme, reporting on the day, working on a planning project or delivering bulletins.
4. You need to have a clear understanding of our target audience, with the ability to find stories that appeal to them.
Are you the right Candidate?
5. You will be an experienced and multi-skilled radio journalist with a strong understanding of our target audience and significant knowledge of British Asian affairs and culture.
6. Our bulletins are crafted and delivered keeping in mind a younger audience so experience of bulletin reading is desired.
7. You'll need to be able to find great, untold stories that will engage our listeners and present them confidently in our daily editorial meeting with the ability to find guests, check out stories and make sure they are editorially robust.
8. We need journalists who can write well. You should have the ambition to find and develop your own stories that can travel.
9. You should be motivated, ambitious and a team player.
10. In addition to excellent creative skills, you’ll be a strong communicator, have excellent planning and organisational abilities and be able to prioritise to meet operational deadlines. High quality production skills including live radio studio production and audio editing is essential

11. Significant knowledge of British Asian culture
12. Demonstrable ability to find strong, original stories suitable for our target audience
13. Experience in radio journalism
14. Bulletin reading experience/ability
15. Understanding of what works for a digital audience
