Job Description
Mid Lothian Council has six secondary schools and 32 primary schools, including 19 with nurseries and two standalone nursery schools. Saltersgate is a primary school specialising in support for children with complex additional support needs. Schools vary in size from 20 to over 1200 pupils, representing rural to urban settings. A number of new build schools have been established in the past decade, with more planned.
Interviews will be held on Wednesday 7th January 2026.
Requirements
* Pre‑employment checks and requirements for teaching positions, including medical screening, two written references (one from the most recent/current employer), verification of original qualifications and eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
* Registration with the General Teaching Council Scotland (GTCS). Permanent posts require full registration.
* Regulated Work with Children requirements. Offer contingent on PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. Salary deduction of £59 for full membership or £18 for a record update; balances deducted from final salary if employment ends early.
* Disclosure of unspent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, to be submitted in confidence to the Employment and Reward Manager. Failure to disclose may result in offer withdrawal.
