Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Play Worker to join our team, providing a safe and engaging environment for children to learn and play. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children.
Purpose of Post
To assist the core team in providing a caring, secure environment, through individual attention and group activities and to organise an appropriate range of activities for children between the ages of 4 to 11.
Key Areas
* Support with running of holiday club activities.
* To provide supervision and care of children in our clubs.
* To engage with the children in our care.
* Assist with core times of the day, including lunchtime cover.
* To be as flexible as possible with hours and to respond to the club manager and deputies with requests for working hours.
* Have a hands-on approach in providing a fun, stimulating child led environment. To have a basic knowledge of the EYFS and Principles in Playwork.
* To commit and understand the fundamentals of safeguarding in childcare and education.
Responsible to: Clubs and Activities Manager and Head Teacher.
Duties and Responsibilities
* To assist in providing safe, creative and appropriate play opportunities for children, including helping with preparation of activities, organisation of programmes and arranging equipment.
* To ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe and responsible manner.
* To undertake any necessary training, including safeguarding training.
* To consult with the children and involve them in the planning of activities.
* Ensure that play meets the full range of children's individual and group needs.
* To promote the aims and objectives of Waverley School, and use as a guide for daily activities.
* Be aware of Staff Policies and Practices, including Health and Safety.
* To ensure the provision of good standards of physical and emotional care.
* To ensure good standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
* Ensure each child is collected by someone known to Waverley staff.
* To assist in providing a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
* To ensure confidentially is maintained when appropriate.
* To be aware of the high profile of the club and to uphold its standards at all times.
* To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the school.
