Youth Worker – Alternative Provision

An Alternative Provision school is seeking a dedicated Youth Worker to support students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). This role focuses on re-engaging learners, building their confidence, and helping them develop the skills needed to transition back into mainstream education.

The Role
As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young people who face social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Engaging students through activities, sports, mentoring, and creative approaches.
* Building strong, trusting relationships and acting as a positive role model.
* Encouraging participation in learning through inclusive and adaptable strategies.
* Supporting students with SEMH needs using de-escalation, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.
* Working alongside teachers and support staff to maintain a structured, supportive, and consistent environment.

The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar pastoral roles.
* Confident in working with young people who have SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs.
* Skilled at communication and relationship-building, able to gain students’ trust and respect.
* Patient, enthusiastic, and adaptable, with a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
* Able to manage challenging behaviours while offering emotional and pastoral support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
