The Role

The role of Manager - Finance Business Partner ("FBP") is to partner key internal stakeholders in delivering financial growth and budget attainment within the business.

The successful applicant must demonstrate an ability and aptitude to drive improved business performance but also show the relationship skills to become a trusted advisor.

The role will report directly into the Head of Finance Business Partner responsible for supported areas who will manage and support the successful applicants, whilst the roles themselves will mentor and be supported by a dedicated management accountant team.

As an FBP you will sit on the management team of the areas you support and be expected and encouraged to provide input across all financial and non-financial matters to help the business succeed.

Success in the role will require exceptional financial and commercial awareness, being able to quickly understand and digest the key business priorities and then provide financial advice and support to help these priorities be achieved.

The role holder is responsible for implementing financial programmes and initiatives within their business area and overseeing and delivering the global calendar of priorities (i.e. month end, budget, forecasting, monthly business reviews).
An ability to problem-solve, "can-do" attitude, and strong communication skills are critical to success being achieved in the role.

Key Accountabilities

What you'll do:

Financial Reporting and Operational Management

* Oversight of the budget process for the area you support.
* Liaising with management accounting team to sign off month end and take judgement based calls on the close.
* Where needed, help MA's with preparation and posting month end journal, financial statements, management reports and any other ad hock activities.
* Managing an effective and accurate forecast process that provides clear direction on the annual position.
* Driving better operational performance through ownership of monthly operational reviews with the senior management team you support.
* Work collaboratively with other finance business partners to drive best practice and standardisation where appropriate.
* Clear, concise, upwards reporting to Head of Finance Business Partner, CFO and Business Stakeholders as to how your business areas/sectors are performing and will perform.

Strategic Planning

* Work closely with the MD(s) you are supporting to develop a strategy for the business and prioritise cost/investment decisions.
* Analyse trend data to give insight into the team as to potential risks and opportunities that may arise.
* Detailed reviews of cost base and cost milestone planning to enable the business to be more agile in reacting to revenue/NFI reductions.

Cost Management

* Become a subject matter expert understanding the details of the cost structure of supported functions.
* Provide financial cost and benefit analysis supporting strategic decision making and preparation of Investment Business Cases.
* Identify opportunities and lead projects to streamline processes and reports.

Team Management & Collaboration

* Responsible for line management of Management Accountants supporting his areas. They will also need to work closely with peers and more senior non finance stakeholders and support functions.
* Demonstrate a good balance of being able to work independently, taking decisions but also managing stakeholders up the chain appropriately.

Skills & Experience

You'll need to demonstrate:

* Exam qualified as a minimum from relevant professional accountancy body ( CIMA, ACCA or equivalent).
* Very strong communication skills with the ability to adapt presentational style to different functions/levels in the organisation.
* Understanding of financial processes in the organizations.
* Ability to present financial numbers succinctly to a non-finance audience.
* Ability to analyse trend analysis and make deductions/insights from them.
* Ability to show resilience and manage priorities at busy times.
* Ability and experience of working with finance colleagues in a separate location.

Non-Essential:

* Good Cognos/TM1 analysis skills.
* Financial modelling skills to support strategic decision-making.
* Experience contributing to transformational projects within a Finance Business Partner (FBP) capacity.
