Role Summary
The Research Officer will support the Senior Research Manager and other Research Managers in creating and administering grant processes for smaller value grants, and contribute to the Research Network, ensuring continuous support for the ARUK research community.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine their needs and support process implementation.
* Collaborate on the creation of grant processes (pre- and post-award) associated with smaller value grants.
* Contribute to the development of Flexigrant to implement changes.
* Facilitate communication of changes and provide training to necessary staff.
* Lead grant administration of smaller value grants including pre-award and grant review processing.
* Implement a feedback mechanism for continual improvement.
* Provide support to external stakeholders, e.g., researchers, regarding these grants.
* Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key external stakeholders, particularly ARUK funded researchers.
* Contribute as a representative of the charity to external events, including national and international conferences.
* Support the wider team to ensure smaller value grant schemes are appropriate for the dementia research community, particularly early career researchers.
Qualifications and Experience
* Familiarity with the UK funding landscape and dementia research.
* Strong eye for detail and ability to organise large volumes of information.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines.
* Prior experience in a team environment.
* Demonstrable commitment to inclusive working, placing value on equity and diversity.
* Good IT skills with the ability to work with grant management systems.
* Prior experience working in grant administration.
* Commitment to ARUK’s vision, mission and values.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to capture and summarise key information to different stakeholders.
* Organised and able to coordinate various projects concurrently.
* Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.

* Able to work well as part of a team.
