Key Responsibilities
1.
Quality Assurance & Compliance – Food Safety
* Gain a working knowledge of
UK food import regulations
and ensure day-to-day compliance.
* Horizon-scan for upcoming legislation impacting the business and advise management.
* Verify that
goods-inwards
meet regulatory and internal quality standards.
* Maintain and update the
QUASYDOC system
to ensure accurate and accessible QA documentation.
2.
Quality Assurance & Compliance – BRCGS Certification
* Maintain the company's
BRCGS Storage & Distribution certification
.
* Support preparation for external audits.
* Conduct
periodic internal audits
.
* Handle consumer complaints in line with
BRCGS / GFSI standards
.
3.
Import Clearance
* Ensure smooth clearance of inbound shipments at UK ports, collaborating with buying teams, overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, and port authorities.
* Verify accuracy of
tariff classification and VAT payments
.
* Take the lead on the company's
migration to in-house customs declarations
.
4.
General Compliance & Communication
* Respond to technical queries from suppliers, retail customers, consumers, and internal teams.
* Act as the company's primary contact point for
regulatory agencies
(FSA, Trading Standards, HMRC, Port Health, etc.).
* Support ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the line manager.
