Job Description:

Job Advert

We are looking for a male Support Worker who has a full UK drivers licence to work between two services in the Bedlington area on a full time (37.5hrs) permanent contract. A driver is essential for this role!

As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.

From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.

At the main service you will work support a gentleman who lives in his own bungalow in a quiet cul-de-sac and receives two to one support from staff during daytime hours and there is a sleep over shift. The day shifts are 8.45am until 7.30pm / 9.15am until 8pm.

When day staff finish there is one member of staff on a waking night shift from 8pm until 9am, as during the night the person we support will need support to go to his bathroom. Please be aware that no new staff work on a waking night shift until they have completed their induction and received full training in all aspects of personal care and the service manager ensures staff are confident. The person we support enjoys being supported in the community by his staff in his mobility car. He enjoys going to different locations in the local area, this includes his favourite café in Blyth where he likes talking to both staff and regular customers. The person we support also enjoys participating in different activities both in the community and in his bungalow. He requires support with personal care, finance and medication. During the week he may require support to medical appointments. The second service you would work at is another male only service and the successful candidate must have a full UK drivers licence. The gentleman we support is in his 50s and lives in Bedlington and we support him from 3.30pm. The person we support enjoys spending time in his garden and has a woodwork shop in his garage. He is able and completes most tasks with a verbal prompt, this includes tasks around his house, and taking medication and conducting his personal care tasks. The shift pattern for this service is start at 3.30pm, sleep in and finish 9am the following morning.
