Base pay range
Salary: £45 - £50k basic + vehicle/allowance + benefits (DOE)
About the role
Opportunity for an experienced Site Supervisor to lead groundworks and civils packages across residential, commercial and infrastructure projects. You’ll own day-to-day site delivery—driving safety, quality and productivity while coordinating labour, plant and subcontractors.
Key responsibilities
* Lead daily operations and toolbox talks; coordinate gangs, subcontractors, plant and materials.
* Manage groundworks activities: site prep, excavations/shoring, deep & shallow drainage, manholes/chambers, ducting & utilities, kerbs/edgings, paving, external works, RC foundations/slabs, retaining walls, road construction, S278/S38 tie-ins and reinstatement.
* Enforce H&S standards: RAMS, permits to dig, service avoidance (CAT & Genny/HSG47), temporary works controls, lifting operations, confined space compliance.
* Track progress vs programme; produce look-aheads, raise risks/changes promptly.
* Liaise with engineers for setting-out checks (lines/levels/tolerances).
* Ensure environmental controls (silt, dust, noise, fuel/waste management).
* Keep accurate site diaries, photos, delivery/plant records; attend/lead progress meetings.
* Act as the on-site point of contact for the PM, QS, client, utility providers and local authority inspectors.
Must-have qualifications & experience
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
* Proven supervision experience on groundworks/civils projects.
* Full UK driving licence.
* First Aid at Work, CAT & Genny, Confined Space, Abrasive Wheels.
* Temporary Works (Supervisor/Coordinator).
* CPCS/NPORS (Dumper/Roller) awareness for plant coordination.
