About The Role
As a Genomics Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in enabling high-impact clinical research and AI-driven healthcare innovation. You will work at the intersection of science, data, and technology - ensuring that complex datasets are reliable, well-governed, and analysis-ready.
Leveraging your expertise in genomics data standards, data quality, and regulatory requirements, you will support the end-to-end use of genomics data across research, analytics, and machine learning initiatives. Acting as a trusted partner to researchers, data engineers, and ML experts, you will help translate requirements into robust data assets that drive meaningful insights and patient impact.
This is an opportunity to shape how genomics data is curated, governed, and used at scale - contributing directly to transformative, data-driven healthcare research in a fast-moving and mission-driven environment.
Day-to-Day, you might:
* Profile and assess new genomics datasets (e.g., WGS, WES, RNA-seq, single-cell, epigenomics) to evaluate data formats, coverage, quality metrics, reference builds, and suitability for downstream analysis, research, and AI applications
* Design and execute robust quality control and validation checks across genomics data (e.g., read depth, variant quality, batch effects), identifying anomalies and working with bioinformatics and engineering teams to resolve data integrity issues
* Develop and maintain comprehensive metadata, sample manifests, and data dictionaries capturing experimental design, sequencing protocols, platforms, and processing parameters to ensure reproducibility and interpretability
* Collaborate closely with bioinformaticians, wet-lab scientists, data engineers, and ML teams to align genomics data structures and definitions with research questions and analytical workflows
* Support the design and implementation of genomics data models and pipelines that harmonise data across studies, platforms, and reference versions into analysis-ready datasets
* Ensure genomics data handling aligns with ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, controlled-access data, consent frameworks), supporting secure use, traceability, and responsible data sharing
* Stay current with evolving genomics standards and best practices (e.g., VCF, BAM/CRAM, FASTQ, GA4GH frameworks, reference genome updates) to continuously improve data quality and interoperability
* Knowledge Sharing & Enablement: Educate teams on genomics data structures, quality metrics, and best practices, helping build a strong, genomics-literate and data-driven research culture
What Makes You a Great Fit:
* You have a BS or MS in a relevant field (e.g., genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, biomedical science, data science, computer science, or related discipline)
* You have experience working with genomics or high-throughput biological data, including 2+ years in a genomics data analysis or bioinformatics-adjacent role ad hands-on experience with genomics data formats and standards (e.g., FASTQ, BAM/CRAM, VCF, GTF/GFF)
* You are proficient in querying and managing large-scale datasets and metadata stores
* You are expertised in SQL and Python genomics data analysis, QC, and automation
* You are comfortable working across wet-lab, computational, and analytical teams, translating biological and research questions into clear data requirements.
* You are a clear and confident communicator, able to explain complex genomics data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
* You thrive in fast-paced, research-focused environments and are motivated by the opportunity to advance science and healthcare through genomics
