Overview
I am currently working with a large-scale manufacturing client based in Castleford, who are looking for an experienced Operations Leader or Production Team Leader to join their busy team.
This role will be a pivotal part of a team of 4 Service Operations Leaders, who then all directly report into the production manager.
This company operates on a 24/7 basis, so this role will be shift pattern based to ensure smooth running of the continuous production environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead, plan and manage a team of 5 – 20 production staff at any time.
* Manage the day to day running of the FLT & PPT Drivers.
* Ensure the smooth operational running of your area during your shift.
* Achieve site performance and quality targets through efficient planning.
* Demonstrate an excellent understanding of health, safety and environmental policies and enforce them during your shift.
* Motivate a team of operatives.
* Implement and monitor company processes and procedures effectively.
* Capture all administrative duties through to completion via the use of SAP.
* Check stock and ensure it is stored correctly.
* Rotate and organise labour within your controlled area.
* Complete timesheets for your team.
* Ensure general housekeeping is adhered to, including site cleanliness and ensuring daily KPI targets are achieved.
* Report and investigate all accidents and near-miss events with appropriate root cause analysis.
* Ensure fire safety procedures are completed regularly.
* Book agency staff based on agreed production/bay planning for the next 24-hour shift.
* Must have a keen eye for detail.
* Must be a motivational leader.
* Must be able to solve problems and think independently to resolve issues.
* Must be able to work autonomously.
Personal profile / Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has proven experience within a similar team leader/managerial based role, within a fast-paced, process driven manufacturing, production, distribution or logistics-based environment.
Experience identifying system improvements and familiarity with continuous improvement projects like lean, complexity reduction and six sigma would be a distinct advantage.
Knowledge of SAP systems – either at daily user, or advanced level.
Shift pattern & Compensation
This role is offered on a 12-hour night shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, initially, but may then lead to rotational day/shift patterns in the near future.
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 depending upon experience, with overtime. Hourly rate equivalent is £14.77 with overtime paid at time and a third.
