Occupational Therapist – Neurosciences
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a permanent Band 6 Occupational Therapist position in our Regional Wessex Neurosciences Centre.
Job Summary
This full‑time (1 WTE) role delivers patient care across neurosurgery, neurology, stroke rehabilitation and spinal services. You will provide senior clinical and operational leadership, support therapy service development and may work across multiple clinical areas.
Responsibilities
* Perform specialised neuro‑specific assessments and goal‑directed treatments.
* Plan multi‑therapy discharge and liaise with local community services, specialist regional units and major district hospitals.
* Deliver patient care on a 7‑day roster, including weekends and bank holidays.
* Provide peer support and regular clinical supervision to junior staff.
* Contribute to audit, research and service development activities.
* Maintain independent caseload management and clinician‑led clinical governance.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
* Current HCPC registration.
* Postgraduate experience in an acute hospital with neurological patients.
* Experience in neuro‑specific assessments and fitting equipment.
* Evidence of independent caseload management.
* Experience within a multidisciplinary team and with support staff.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable Skills
* Supervisory experience with staff or students.
* Teaching experience for therapy staff and students.
* Emerging leadership skills.

Working Pattern and Pay
Band 6, permanent, full‑time (1 WTE). Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum (pro‑rata). Working hours include a 7‑day service on a roster basis.
