Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, committed, hardworking, and highly motivated Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners to join our team of dedicated Theatre Practitioners.
Your base will primarily be at Burnley General Hospital, with cross-site working expected as needed.
Main duties of the job
We operate 11 theatres at the Royal Blackburn site and 17 at Burnley General, performing a wide range of elective and emergency surgeries across specialties including Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Vascular, Colorectal, HPB, Urology, Orthopaedics, Trauma, ENT, Maxillofacial, including Robotic-assisted Surgery, and a 24-hour emergency service on both sites.
Working for our organisation
ELHT has the largest and most comprehensive robotic surgery program in the northwest, with leading surgeons performing surgeries for head and neck, urological, and colorectal cancers. A second robot at Burnley General allows for additional robotic surgeries, including gynaecological, urological, and eventually hepato-biliary cancers.
Our goal is to provide safe, personal, and effective care, prioritizing safety and quality in all we do.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We seek a dedicated, motivated individual to work in our theatres. Flexibility, excellent time management, and communication skills are essential. The role involves providing expert patient care, maintaining a safe environment, accurate documentation, acting as scrub/circulating nurse, and possibly as anaesthetic/recovery nurse based on qualification and experience. You will coordinate theatre operations daily and demonstrate strong leadership as a role model.

* At least 18 months' experience at Team Leader level in theatres, with proven leadership in elective theatres, knowledge of finance, budgets, procurement, and staff management.
* Excellent IT skills, conflict resolution, staff HR management, and governance experience.
* Ability to work flexible hours, across sites, and delegate effectively. Capable of motivating and developing teams, with a focus on quality and sustainability.
* Development of skills in all specialties, including robotic surgery, with experience in training and organisational culture management.
