We're looking for an experienced General Manager to join and lead the team at Friends of Ham, Ilkley.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for artisan produce and a love for providing great service.
You will need to be enthusiastic, organised, a pro-active person who gets things done, possess great communication skills and be a natural at leading and nurturing a team. You will need to have the ability to think on your feet and respond to situations effectively as they arise.
We are a small family business with 2 locations specialising in craft beer and charcuterie in a relaxed, informal environment. The role would report directly to the Director and will be given the opportunity to have significant positive influence within the business.
Service is a large part of the role with a good proportion of your time spent "on the floor" so the role is suitable for someone who enjoys a mix of management tasks and customer interaction.
Duties will include
* Ensuring company standards are met at all times including service, procedure and cleanliness
* Helping to manage health & safety and compliance
* Recruiting, training and managing staff inc rotas etc
* Helping to implement new company policies
* Stock management inc running the stock system
* Ordering of stock and consumables
* Helping to drive sales and manage costs
* Serving customers - leading from the front
Essential for the role are
* at least 2 years as a General Manager or equivalent of a pub, bar or restaurant
* An interest in beer and a solid knowledge of beer styles
* A passion for quality produce
* Great communication skills and a confident leadership style
* A calm, measured temperament and the ability to "firefight" when necessary
* A keen eye for detail coupled with high standards
* Excellent organisational skills
* Personal licence
* Understanding of GP's and managing costs
Desirables are
* Experience of integrated till and stock system
* Good wine knowledge and ideally some formal training
* Knowledge/ interest in cheese and charcuterie
* Coffee trained
