Provide a comprehensive 24/7 frontline security service to the organisation at any of the Trust establishments throughout the duration of your employment. This role will include the prevention and detection of crime or anti‑social behaviour, ensuring the safety of patients, colleagues and visitors on Trust premises, and ensuring the security of Trust property and assets.
Responsibilities
* Supervise day‑to‑day operations of a security team and allocate work to meet changing demands and emergencies.
* Respond promptly to all Trust security and fire alerts.
* Direct the work of officers and allocate staff resources to duties and activities on site as appropriate.
* Ensure staff arrive for work promptly, are dressed appropriately, and wear designated clothing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
* Complete eRoster shift times and report any matters to management.
* Issue and control equipment (radios, body‑worn cameras, PPE) and conduct random compliance checks, recording outcomes.
* Roster staff with sufficient breaks, manage patrol duties and minimise unnecessary time spent in the control room.
* Conduct formal handovers at the start and end of shift to identify ongoing issues and brief the team.
* Keep the control room clean and tidy.
* Report all physical intervention (PI) occurrences on Datix/Radar and complete PI forms promptly.
* Provide a hot debrief after any PI incident to capture lessons learned.
* Provide induction training to new staff and ongoing training on procedures and equipment use.
* Ensure all staff are aware of site assignment instructions.
* Undertake return‑to‑work interviews and manage attendance in line with the Trust’s Attendance Policy.
* Escalate staffing issues, non‑attendance and absences to management and resolve appropriately.
* Performance manage staff to maintain standards at all times.
* Monitor ELHT CCTV systems, ensuring compliance with the ICO Code of Practice, GDPR and Trust policy.
* Issue and manage body‑worn cameras, report any damage, faults or loss.
* Ensure staff deploy cameras according to operating procedures, recording and preserving information policies.
* Follow the control and issue of key procedure correctly.
* Record all tasks and duties on the daily report log.
* Manage the initial response to any helipad requests.
* Complete escort duties promptly as required.
* Patrol hospital car parks, grounds and buildings, acting as a visual deterrent and reporting suspicious incidents.
* Handle telephone and general enquiries, relaying messages accurately and taking appropriate action.
* Communicate effectively with other departments, patients and external agencies using experience and judgement.
* Achieve all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
* Provide exception reports for underperforming areas.
* Act as a Security Response Officer when required.
