We are seeking applications for a one‑year Research Associate post to work within the School of Mathematical Sciences at Lancaster University, as part of the EPSRC grant "Singularities and Symplectic Topology". This grant focuses on the interface between symplectic topology and algebraic geometry.
Your role would be to work, both independently and collaboratively with the Principal Investigator (Jonny Evans), on research problems in these areas, publishing your results and presenting at conferences.
Responsibilities
• Conduct research in symplectic geometry and algebraic geometry, contributing to the objectives of the grant.
• Publish results (preferably on the arXiv) and present at national and international conferences.
• Maintain a clear research agenda that aligns with the grant’s focus.
Qualifications
• Completed a PhD in symplectic geometry, algebraic geometry, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated record of research publications, with evidence of independent research capable of enhancing the grant’s objectives.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently within a research team.
Interposition dates and further details: The position is available from September 1st 2026, and will run until the end of the grant on 31st August 2027. Interviews will be carried out shortly after the closing date.
